First, we’ll head to the Zocalo, the main square where the cathedral is located. It took 240 years to build and is considered the largest cathedral in Latin America. We’ll visit the Templo Mayor, the great pyramid of the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, and admire the works of the painter Diego Rivera at the National Palace. Admission is free, but an identification document is required. We’ll have a photo stop at the Casa de los Azulejos, with its beautiful facade covered in Talavera tiles from Puebla. We’ll also visit the Palace of Fine Arts, a true symbol of the city, which houses the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Architecture, and a theater where the famous Ballet Folklórico de México performs.
We’ll visit the Mercado (San Juan) to discover local products and try different dishes like tacos. There’s even a section of the market dedicated to insects, where you can try chapulines (roasted and salted grasshoppers). You can also visit the National Museum of Anthropology, one of the most important museums in the world, and the beautiful Chapultepec Castle in Chapultepec Park.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit Frida Kahlo’s house in Coyoacán and the canals of Xochimilco. You can also take a stroll through the neighborhoods of Roma and Condesa, known for their shops, parks, cafes, art galleries, and street art. Here, you can easily find a good restaurant.
